Jewellery Designer
Idar Bergseth
Born in Vancouver and adopted by Norwegian immigrants in 1945, Idar Bergseth transformed a childhood fascination with rocks into a lifelong passion for fine jewellery. Classically trained and mentored by master goldsmiths, Idar began handcrafting jewellery in the 1960s—a bold move in an era dominated by mass production. Inspired by his West Coast surroundings, Nordic roots, and Celtic design, Idar pioneered a distinct style, earning international acclaim and numerous awards. For over 50 years, his Victoria-based shop has remained a beacon of craftsmanship, sustainability, and heartfelt artistry—where every handmade piece tells a story and leaves a legacy.
