"Mokume-Gane" is an ancient traditional style of Japanese metalworking, roughly translating to “wood grain” . This highly skilled and labour-intensive method involves rolling out fine layers of metal, in Idar's case different tones of high karat gold, and layering them like one would when making a fine pastry, then twisting the metal working a hidden pattern, rolling it out to reveal a unique wood grain pattern. This mix of gold is then used to make into a ring, each piece having a truly one of a kind pattern.
