What is ethical jewellery?

Our philosophy extends beyond the personal to the social. We source our metals as much as possible from local and ethical mining operations. We were the first jewellery shop in Victoria, BC to sell a Canadian diamond and one of the first in the world.

Please explain the concept of custom-made and why Idar does not use this term to describe his work.

Custom-made refers to a piece that is made to an individual’s specifications. We believe that good design endures, bad design does not. Our goldsmiths are experts in jewellery design and production, and as such will not compromise on the quality of design, materials, or technique. We have been creating award-winning designs that have stood the test of time, and can assure customers that Idar originals will give them a lifetime of satisfaction and pleasure.
